Juriy Bondar was born in Saint-Petersburg in 1947. In 1976 he graduated from the Academy of Industrial Art named after W. I. Muhina. The earnest creative activity began with the order of the Musical Comedy Theatre in Leningrad in 1979. It was a poster for the play „A Broken Looking-glass„. About 100 posters for theatres, both in Saint-Petersburg and other cities of the country have been made since that time. These works were exhibited at the Poster Bienalle in Finland and Poland, and were exhibited in the cities of Europe, the USA and Japan. Bondar took part as a painter in more than 30 exhibitions, both in Russia and abroad. In 1990 Bondar was accepted to the Russian Painter‘s Union. Simultaneously to the theatrocal activity Bondar is engaged in painting with enthusiasm. Many experiments of this field are realized in his posters. But his first taking part of a painter in an exhibition was in 1993 in Vienna at „The Russian & Ukrainian Painter‘s Galery„. First orders of private collections were realized there. The artist works in various genres with animation. His most favourite ones are music, dance and also landscape. His works are overfulled with lively visual energy. So he doesn‘t seek to reproduce things on the canvas exactly the same he sees them, but he paints his attitude for them. His pictures are considerably inspired by the music what has an influence upon colouristic mood and spirit of painting. On starting to work he toils energeticly and very seldom stops until the picture is completed. He likes us to feel the holiday of life in his works where ecstasy wins a victory over passivity, motion- over inertia, and the joy of life prevails over melancholy. Bondar always takes part in the exhibitions in Russia, also in Finnland, Germany, Austria, the USA. His works are in the galleries and the private collections in these countries.
